Indacaterol maleate (brand name Onbrez Breezhaler) is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) bronchodilator indicated for maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Mechanism of Action

Indacaterol acts on beta2-adrenergic receptors in the bronchial smooth muscle, producing bronchodilation that lasts 24 hours. As an ultra-long-acting bronchodilator, it provides sustained bronchial smooth muscle relaxation.

Indications

• Maintenance bronchodilator treatment of airflow obstruction in adults with COPD

Dosage

One 150mcg capsule inhaled via Breezhaler device once daily. Dose may be increased to 300mcg once daily if additional bronchodilation is needed.
