About Azel 80 mg Capsule
Azel 80 mg Capsule contains 80 mg of enzalutamide per capsule, supplied as a pack of 10 capsules. Enzalutamide is an androgen receptor inhibitor. Treatment is prescribed and supervised by a cancer specialist.
How it works
Prostate cancer cells are usually driven by male hormones acting on the androgen receptor. Enzalutamide blocks that receptor at several points – it stops the hormone binding, stops the receptor moving into the cell nucleus, and stops it switching on the genes that make the cell divide.
What it is used for
Enzalutamide is used in prostate cancer, including disease that has stopped responding to standard hormone treatment and hormone-sensitive disease that has spread. It is given together with ongoing androgen deprivation treatment.
Important: what this medicine is not
Enzalutamide is not a skin treatment, a painkiller or an anti-inflammatory. It is a hormonal cancer medicine.
Safety and monitoring
Enzalutamide can lower the threshold for seizures – tell your doctor about any history of fits, head injury or stroke, and report any blackout or fit at once. Tiredness, hot flushes, raised blood pressure and falls are common, and bone thinning raises the risk of fracture, so take care with balance. Rarely a serious brain condition causing headache, confusion, seizures or vision loss has been reported and needs urgent attention. Blood pressure is monitored, and many other medicines interact with it, so list everything you take.
Prescription and storage
A prescription from your healthcare provider is required to purchase enzalutamide. Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight, and out of the reach of children.
