Ricovir Em, manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd, is used to treat the symptoms of HIV infection and as PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) to reduce the risk of contracting HIV through sexual activity.

It works by preventing the transmission of HIV in the body. This medicine is formulated using two antiretroviral medications: Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate.

Key Benefits of Ricovir Em

This capsule belongs to a group of antiretroviral medicines that help in treating HIV infection. Beyond this, here is a list of all the advantages of the medication:

  • By taking the Ricovir Em capsule, one can reduce the chance of developing Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and other HIV-related illnesses.

  • Ricovir Em tablets block the action of certain enzymes(nucleotide and nucleoside reverse transcriptase enzymes) that the virus needs for reproduction.

  • Taking Ricovir Em along with safe sex practices and leading a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk of getting or spreading HIV to others.

How Does Ricovir Em Works?

People suffering from HIV have a virus in their blood that weakens the immune system over time, making them more vulnerable to infections compared to those without HIV. Ricovir-EM plays a vital role in controlling the virus, preventing it from multiplying and slowing down the damage to the immune system.

This medication contains a combination of two antiretroviral drugs—Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate—which work alongside other doctor-prescribed medications to help suppress HIV in the body. This ultimately safeguards and preserves the immune system and prevents HIV from being transmitted to other people.

In addition, Ricovir Em can be prescribed to prevent people from getting HIV through sexual behaviour. However, it is not capable of preventing other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It is advisable to ask your doctor or pharmacist before starting to consume this tablet.
