About Oxaliplatin
Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy drug used primarily to treat colorectal cancer, both as adjuvant therapy after surgery and for advanced or metastatic disease. It works by forming platinum-DNA crosslinks that prevent cancer cells from replicating their DNA and dividing.
Originally marketed as Eloxatin, oxaliplatin is administered by intravenous infusion and is the cornerstone of the FOLFOX regimen (combined with fluorouracil and leucovorin), one of the most widely used chemotherapy protocols in oncology. It is also used in CAPOX combinations with capecitabine. Indian manufacturers produce oxaliplatin for injection in 50 mg and 100 mg vials.
