About Cazanat 60 mg Tablet

Cazanat 60 mg Tablet contains cabozantinib, a targeted cancer medicine supplied in a pack of 30 tablets to be taken by mouth once daily as prescribed.

How it works

Cabozantinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It blocks several signalling proteins used by tumours, including VEGFR, MET and AXL. Blocking VEGFR limits the new blood vessels a tumour needs in order to grow, while blocking MET and AXL interferes with signals that drive cancer cells to grow and spread.

What it is used for

Cabozantinib is used in the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer), hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) after previous treatment, and medullary thyroid cancer, depending on the strength and the approved indication. The treating oncologist decides whether it is suitable and at what dose.

Important safety information

Cabozantinib can raise blood pressure, which is monitored regularly, and can cause bleeding, problems with wound healing, and, uncommonly, perforation of the bowel. Treatment is usually paused before and after planned surgery. Diarrhoea, mouth soreness, tiredness and redness or soreness of the palms and soles are common. Take it on an empty stomach as directed and avoid grapefruit. Tell your doctor about all other medicines and supplements you take, any bleeding disorder, liver problems, or recent surgery, and report severe diarrhoea, black stools or severe abdominal pain straight away.
