About Cobix 100 mg Capsules

Cobix 100 mg Capsules contain 100 mg of celecoxib per capsule, supplied as a pack of 10 capsules. Celecoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID) of the selective COX-2 inhibitor class.

How it works

Injury and inflammation drive the production of prostaglandins, the chemical messengers behind pain, swelling and fever. Celecoxib blocks COX-2, the enzyme that makes them at a site of inflammation, while largely sparing COX-1, which protects the stomach lining — which is why it is gentler on the stomach than older anti-inflammatories, though not free of risk.

What it is used for

Celecoxib is used to relieve the pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, and for short courses of acute pain.

Safety and monitoring

All medicines of this class raise the risk of heart attack and stroke, more so at higher doses and with longer use, so the lowest effective dose for the shortest time is the rule. Tell your doctor about heart disease, high blood pressure, or previous stomach ulcers or bleeding. Stop and seek help for black or bloody stools, vomiting blood, chest pain, breathlessness or weakness on one side. Celecoxib is a sulfonamide, so mention any sulfa allergy. Kidney function and blood pressure are monitored on longer courses.
