About Benzz 45 mg Injection
Benzz 45 mg Injection contains bendamustine, supplied as a single vial for intravenous infusion after reconstitution and dilution. It is prepared and given by trained healthcare staff.
How it works
Bendamustine is a cytotoxic medicine with alkylating activity. It binds to the DNA inside dividing cells and causes damage that the cell cannot repair, which stops the cell from multiplying and leads it to die. Treatment is given in supervised cycles with regular blood tests.
What it is used for
Bendamustine is used in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and of indolent (slow-growing) non-Hodgkin lymphomas, including after other treatments have stopped working. It may be given alone or with other medicines, according to the regimen chosen by the treating haematologist or oncologist.
Important safety information
Bendamustine lowers white cells, red cells and platelets, which increases the risk of infection, anaemia and bleeding; blood counts are checked before and between cycles. Serious skin reactions, infusion reactions and tumour lysis syndrome can occur. It can harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor straight away about fever, sore throat, unusual bruising or bleeding, or any rash, and tell them about all other medicines you take and any kidney or liver problems.
This is a prescription-only medicine. It should be used only under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional, who will decide whether it is suitable for you and at what dose.
