Description
About Mygem 1 g Injection
Mygem 1 g Injection contains gemcitabine, supplied as a single vial for intravenous infusion. It is prepared and given by trained healthcare staff in a clinical setting.
How it works
Gemcitabine is an antimetabolite. It resembles one of the building blocks a cell needs to copy its DNA; when a dividing cell takes it up instead of the real building block, DNA synthesis stops and the cell cannot multiply.
What it is used for
Gemcitabine is used in the treatment of cancer of the pancreas, non-small cell lung cancer, bladder cancer, breast cancer and ovarian cancer, usually as part of a combination regimen chosen by the treating oncologist.
Important safety information
Gemcitabine lowers blood cell counts, so blood tests are taken before each dose; it can also affect the liver, kidneys and lungs. Tell your doctor about breathlessness, swelling, reduced urine output, fever or unusual bruising. It can harm an unborn baby, and effective contraception is required. Tell your doctor about all other medicines and about any previous or planned radiotherapy.
This is a prescription-only medicine. It should be used only under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional, who will decide whether it is suitable for you and at what dose.
