About Fullform 400 Mcg+6 Mcg Capsules
Fullform 400 Mcg+6 Mcg Capsules contain two medicines: budesonide 400 micrograms, an inhaled corticosteroid, and formoterol fumarate 6 micrograms, a long-acting bronchodilator. The capsules hold a dry powder and are used with an inhaler device — they are not swallowed. Supplied as a pack of 10 capsules.
How it works
The two work on different parts of the same problem. Budesonide damps down the inflammation in the airway lining that makes it swollen and twitchy. Formoterol relaxes the muscle wrapped around the airways so they widen, and it keeps working for about twelve hours. Treating inflammation and narrowing together controls asthma better than either alone.
What it is used for
This combination is used for the regular, ongoing treatment of asthma, and in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, where a corticosteroid and a long-acting bronchodilator are both needed.
Important: a long-acting bronchodilator is never used alone in asthma
Formoterol must always be taken with an inhaled corticosteroid in asthma, which is why the two are combined in one capsule. Follow your doctor’s instructions on whether this inhaler is for regular use only or also for relief of symptoms, as that differs between treatment plans.
Safety and monitoring
Rinse your mouth with water after each dose and spit it out — this reduces the risk of oral thrush and hoarseness, the most common effects of an inhaled steroid. Tell your doctor if your usual reliever is needed more often than before, or is working less well, as that can mean the asthma is not controlled. Trembling, headache and palpitations can occur when treatment starts and usually settle. Mention heart rhythm problems, an overactive thyroid, diabetes or low blood potassium.
Prescription and storage
A prescription from your healthcare provider is required. Keep the capsules in their blister until use, store at room temperature away from moisture, and out of the reach of children.
