Introduction to Dutasteride, tamsulosin

This combination drug is used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). FDA approved this medication initially in 1997. 

How it Works:

  • Dutasteride: Inhibits the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), shrinking the prostate.
  • Tamsulosin: Relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder, improving urine flow.

Uses:

Management of symptoms associated with BPH.
