Introduction to Everolimus
Everolimus is an mTOR inhibitor used to treat various types of cancers and transplant rejection. Everolimus is an immunosuppressant that was approved for its medical use on 30th March 2009.
How it Works:
Everolimus blocks the mTOR pathway, which is important for cell growth and division. By inhibiting this pathway, it helps prevent the growth of cancer cells and also modulates the immune system.
Uses:
- Cancers: Breast cancer, kidney cancer, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.
- Organ transplants: Prevents organ rejection in kidney and liver transplants.
