This combination drug is used for the treatment of HIV-1 and hepatitis B.

How it Works:

Lamivudine and Tenofovir block reverse transcriptase, preventing the virus from making copies of itself.

Uses:

• Treatment of HIV-1 infection.
• Treatment of chronic hepatitis B.

Side Effects:

• Nausea
• headache
• dizziness.
• Rare: kidney problems and bone density loss.
