introduction to Regorafenib

Regorafenib was approved by the U.S. FDA on September 27, 2012, for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), and hepatocellular carcinoma. It is a kinase inhibitor that works by blocking several enzymes involved in the growth of cancer cells.

How Regorafenib Works

Regorafenib inhibits multiple protein kinases that play a role in tumor angiogenesis, oncogenesis, and the tumor microenvironment. By blocking these kinases, it reduces tumor growth and prevents the spread of cancer cells.

Uses of Regorafenib

Regorafenib is used to treat:

  • Metastatic colorectal cancer
  • Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) after progression on other therapies
  • Hepatocellular carcinoma after progression on sorafenib
