Introduction to Rivaroxaban
Rivaroxaban is a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) used to prevent blood clots in various conditions, including atrial fibrillation and deep vein thrombosis. Rivaroxaban is an anticoagulant medication approved for medical use on 1st July 2011.
How Rivaroxaban Works:
Rivaroxaban inhibits Factor Xa, preventing the formation of blood clots. This Tablet is an anticoagulant medication belonging to the class of selective direct Factor Xa inhibitors. It binds and forms a complex with Factor Xa. Factor Xa is a natural substance in the body responsible for the production of blood clots. Rivaroxaban is prescribed alone or in combination with low-dose aspirin.
Uses of Rivaroxaban
- Prevention of stroke in atrial fibrillation.
- Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
